Post I'm not that girl - low notes
Ok..the ONLY note I want to hit that I can't  well I can but it's so quiet and I have to be way warmed down. and its really quiet...will that eliminate my chances for playing the part! I used to be able to but then my voice got higher..which is what I wanted but now I want the low notes as well as the high..does anyone have any suggestions for lowering/streching my range..it is currently low F or F-sharp below middle C...to High E flat/E above the staff..I just want the low E too..I know that would give me a three octave range..but Elphie is one of my dream roles..and it's also in other stuff I'd like to sing! nayone else have this problem??..plus I just want to say I LOVE this song so sad..but I can totally relate to it..I just wish I could sing it..ALL of it.

I have the exact same problem! I can sing all of Elphaba's other parts, except for that 1 note! it is so frustrating!!!

i would have to say. PRACTICE. up to a couple of days ago, I could barely hit high C. Now all of a sudden (with scary amount of practice) I can hit the high F. Granted I was classically trained for 2 years, BUT I never attempted those notes when I was in my training.

SO PRACTIIIIICE!!!!!!! xD I really hope you can get the note soon.

Plus if you are young, you may not have those notes. My range didn't extend to the low e/f until I had gotten a bit older and had voice training. However if you can't sing the low e yet, don't force it out, ever. You'll just hurt yourself in the long run.

I think it's really easy to extend your range higher w/ practice....but as you do that you actually lose some of your lower range. It's much more difficult to extend your range lower I think....especially because it's easier to hurt your voice. If you try to sing higher than you can, your voice just stops and won't sing....but if you try to sing lower than you can you can mess up your vocal chords really fast with that semi-singing semi-growling sound you end up making!

If you do try to extend your lower register I would makesure that you keep your throat very lubricated (tea, water, etc) and don't over do it.

Oh, yeah, and.....I hate that I can't sing that note either!! I just go back up to the previous note...it's in the chord and it sounds just fine. And that way you don't have to sing it up an octave.

When I sang that song I couldn't hit it but now I can, I guess it just takes time and patience :D
