Hugh Grant?! NO!!!!! It has to be Jeremy Irons, Alan Rickman, or Hugh Laurie!
Damn, when I saw "Hugh" I got so excited for a second...

Yay for Carey.
Boo for just about everything else.
If ANY movie musical needs a remake, it's the Man of La Mancha trainwreck. My Fair Lady is a great movie, why remake it?

 MY FAIR LADY Remake
I don't think a new My Fair Lady film is needed, but I don't think the original film is untouchable. It's a solid film, and a faithful one, but it's not perfect. Rex Harrison is fantastic, but... It's unconvincing more often than not and it's almost always a compromise. Actors who can't sing shouldn't be in musicals, unless we make the assumption that none of the acting happens in the songs. We all know that, in a good musical, this is not true. One wouldn't expect a Shakespearean actor to skip over the soliloquies because he doesn't have the technical proficiency and the same astringency should be applied to actors who want to appear in musicals. Fin.
But it didn't. It's not as if Audrey Hepburn was so good an actress that she was good enough in the role to justify being dubbed. She's fine as the transformed Eliza, but she just doesn't nail the flower girl Eliza at all. Not her or Marni Nixon.
And sure, she's there for her star power and all that - but I don't really care about the economics of Hollywood or star power. I want good films.

My point was just that the dubbed vocals worked. I wasn't commiting on the acting prowess of Hepburn. Although I think you're in the minority with that opinion. I couldn't care less either way however I'm just not a fan of the show or the film in general.

Marni Nixon was a terribly overrated singer.

Re: Carey Mulligan set to star in My Fair Lady remake
Dear "My Fair Lady" Fans, A new rumor has surfaced! The movie is now slated for a 2021 release, and there's a battle going on about who should be playing the two leads: ELIZA = Ariana Grande Vs. Lady Gaga Vs. Megan Fox Vs. Anna Faith Carlson Vs.Lindsay Lohan (Yes....Li Lo is still trying to make a comeback!) One of the script-writers is also trying to convince them that either Nicki Minaj or Wynter Gordon would make the perfect Eliza Dolittle. PROFESSOR HENRY HIGGINS = Simon Cowell Vs. the father from "Downton Abbey" Vs. that Sham Wow! guy from T.V. are all wanting the role of Enry Iggins! Thanks in advance for your replies.
