Most difficult song the Urchins sing?
Just cast as Chiffon, and want to start learning stuff before rehearsals start (only have a week for rehearsals)- what should I look at first?

I did the show eons ago, and from what I remember, "Ya Never Know" and "The Meek Shall Inherit" were two of the more difficult songs for our urchins. There are some tricky rhythms in both, if I remember correctly.

Re: Most difficult song the Urchins sing?
Just for the record, "Ya Never Know" was probably the hardest to learn. I'm singing the top, which isn't too bad, but the girl singing the middle part is ready to murder it.

I just asked a friend who played an Urchin this same question and her answer was "Dentist!".

Re: Most difficult song the Urchins sing?
Really? That's odd. For me, singing the top part anyways, Dentist was one of the easiest songs. Maybe it depends on the part you are singing. ?? Also, even thought the notes are easy to 'get', the Finale (Don't Feed the Plants) after the main characters come back and sing as the dead people/flowers is always murder on my voice. All the high notes. Bah! Humbug!!

Re: Most difficult song the Urchins sing?
It depends on your definition of "difficult." Some less-experienced singers may have trouble with the rhythms (syncopation and so on), or the tessitura of certain songs (especially when playing Crystal, as she's often assigned to the top/soprano part [and does most of the ad lib riffs, etc. because of this].)

The Meek Shall Inherit is a beast. IMHO. I sang middle and had the biggest issue with this song.
