Post 2010 Mexican Production
How on earth did I NOT hear about this???!!!

I guess I'm just destined to miss all my all-time favorite musicals in their Spanish language versions! :x

This was announced this past SEPTEMBER and I just became aware of it now. It's currently playing and in its final weeks--there's no way I could make it out there on such short notice. Grrr.

By the looks of it, it's the real deal too...as in the glorious original Michael Bennett production with designs by Robin Wagner, Theoni V. Aldredge, and Tharon Musser. And, of course, the genius original choreography and direction. Here are the full credits:

The moment I saw the company OCESA was involved, I knew this would be a top-notch production. They're the ones who brought the original, full-scale productions of Phantom and Les Miserables to Mexico, as well as The Producers, Fiddler On the Roof, Mamma Mia!, Chicago, Beauty and the Beast, The Full Monty, Jesus Christ Superstar, and several others. The theatre scene in Mexico has flourished in the last decade and it is now a very known art form, especially in Mexico City. There have even been original homegrown musicals written and produced there. I thought they were going to produce Hairspray but it turned out to be a sort of amateur company with very low production values. Although the cast sounded great. I hope they properly do Hairspray there someday.

This is A Chorus Line's 3rd Mexican engagement, the first premiering back in the 80's. I'm not 100% sure but *I think* it returned in the 90's. This production, however, looks like it's the best among them. The original production spawned a Mexican cast album which I own, and sadly, leaves much to be desired as far as singing talent is concerned. This 2010 cast sounds fantastic and I hope they get preserved on disc.

They traditionally hold press promos and for this show, they've invited them for a sneak peak of three, full numbers during early rehearsals...while still in the rehearsal room.

Here they perform the full opening number, "I Hope I Get It":

"The Music and the Mirror":

"What I Did For Love":

I wanna see iiiiiiiiiit. *pout, pout, POUT!!* #-o [-( ](*,)
