 A Chorus Line Ensemble!! Help!
For my high school musical next year we are doing the production A Chorus Line. I know that A Chorus Line has a very small cast, and if anyone has seen or done a school edition of A Chorus Line, is there more than just one song that the ensemble performs in? Which songs do they sing in? Is there songs where they need extra dancers that are not on the main line? Please help!!!

Re: A Chorus Line Ensemble!! Help!
Sorry this response is WAY too late for you, but maybe someone else reading the topic will find it informative. The opening dancers who are cut do not perform further in the show traditionally. For professional productions with long runs, they would all understudy several roles and might walk through a particular role during a performance if there is room backstage. Also there may be a backstage microphone for everyone to sing the finale who is not onstage; you can’t do the kick line sustaining “one” without a ‘bounce’ in your voice, so the offstage singers help with that. I did ACL for a year, initially playing Larry and understudying Bobby, Mike, Mark and Greg. Eventually I was going on more for other roles than I was for Larry, so understudies create a ripple effect where maybe I go on as Mike, the headband dancer goes on as Larry and one of the other cut dancers does the headband role. You can imagine when two or three people are out in a single performance how crazy the switching gets with roles, but it is an extremely fun thing to do.
