Post Every Little Step
So there is a great documentary out on how they put together the revival of A Chorus Line. It has opened in NYC and I'm sure will be sweeping the country to play in art houses soon! Check it out when it comes to your town. I LOVED it!

It is here in California right now. It opened in limited release, generally art houses, last Friday.

I read a brief synopsis of "Every Little Step". It couples the casting of the revival with actual tapes and background of the original show. I'll try to convince our local art house to show it.

I wonder though if the documentary also discusses how the dancers whose stories are told were cheated. I think they were each paid $1 and signed away their rights to their story. I like ACL but the fact that those dancers were not properly compensated bothers me.

It is currently playing at the Palo Alto at the Aquarius Theater.

To find it in your area:

However, if you're interested in the tour of the actual show (A Chorus Line), then you will find emmy05's link more useful.

They are talking about the documentary called "Every Little Step", not the actual tour.

I loved the documentary. I'm doing a research paper at my school about the difficulties of being an actor and I saw the documentary and it took competition to a new level. 3 thousand people auditioned for just 22 roles. I honestly hadn't thought of it on that level yet as I'm still in high school.

Last year when A Chorus Line came to San Francisco I was so upset that I couldn't go see it. Does anyone know when it'll come again, if ever? Anyway, I did a master class with a member of the cast at the dance studio I go to, I'm only a beginner, and the dance was so hard. The opening I mean. It had to be the hardest dance I'd ever done. Now I'm going to be in A Chorus LIne in the fall and I"m so excited. I'm only an additional dancer but to be in A Chorus Line is great!

Did anyone else recognize the other woman up for Val? She was the woman who played Brooke in Legally Blonde, which was such a fun show.

I saw ELS and it was phenomenal. The girl who almost got Val (Nikki Snelson, who was previously mentioned) was Cassie in the Natl. Tour.

Gorgeous movie. Great look at Broadway auditioning.

Post EVERY LITTLE STEP at the Oscars
Every Little Step has been shortlisted as one of the "15 films in the Documentary Feature category... in the voting process for the 82nd Academy Awards". So what do you think it's chances of ending up as a nominee are?

I personally can't wait to see this. It feels like it's going to be a screen version of Everything is Possible about the revival of A Chorus Line. Roll on, December 11... when it's finally released over here...

Later days
David

Well it's not as good as Everything Was Possible but that would be hard :P And it's more one sided, but I am eagerto hear your thoughts!

Despite a few complaints, I think it easily could rack up an Oscar nom.

I liked it. It had the same feel as the DVD featurette on the last days of Rent on Broadway. Not extremely in-depth, but offers some nice audition footage. I especially liked watching Baayork Lee in action; I've always wondered how that little body teaches that complex choreography, hehe.

What's Everything Was Possible?
