"Love You, I Do" at least helped highlight Effie's love for Curtis but "Listen" irritated me for the most part. I felt it was written to rival Hudson's "And I'm Telling You" and it was even more clunky when they inserted it into the current stage version.

Absolutely agreed! Although perhaps the moment is a nice one for Deena and Effie, the way it has been handled is awful - and the new lyrics are just terrible.
