 Man in Chair's Age
People have told me that I would be great as Man in Chair, but I'm only 22. What age range do you think he should be played?

 Re: Man in Chair's Age
I don't think age is important as he has no relationship with any of the other characters. He is only a "fan" of the production. Enthusiasm is the key to the role.

 Re: Man in Chair's Age
He's been married and divorced, so it would be more challenging to have a 22 year old make that believable. I do think a bit more percieved age is needed (but a 22 year old can look old enough to pull it off).

I agree that he would have to be perceived by the audience as older than 22 (at least into his thirties), but the actual age of an actor might not matter. If you can play him older, then there should be no problem.

 Re: Man in Chair's Age
The Man in the Chair has been around to see an obviously old-school Broadway show performed in New York. It seems to me the play just flows better if he is at least in his forties or fifties. I saw the production with John Glover in the role and it makes more sense for him to at least look and sound past middle-age.

Well of course the original actor is the person that the male lead is based on.

I'm just saying, the flow of the script makes less sense if the man in the chair is in his twenties or thirties.
