I was just listening to the Radio Wales broadcast from Bryn Terfel music festival at which Michael Ball, Ruthie Henshall and John Owen John were all performing (along with Bryn and Connie Fisher). During a Les Miserables section. Michael announced John is going to be Broadway's new Valjean. He said it was offical and wished him all the best for Broadway. Anyone heard any news as to when this is happening.
Les Mis section
On my own ~ Ruthie
Stars ~ Bryn
Bring him home ~ John
Empty Chairs ~ Michael
All sang One day more (with Connie I think joining them as Cossette)
All sang Do you hear the people sing.

If this is true, I am so there. I don't care what obstacles my come my way. I will see him live.
Has anyone heard him sing "King of the World" from Songs for a New World on his album? Amazing. He is easily one of the best male vocalists ever. _________________ Trevor: I would do Les Mis in drag to play eponine. oh gosh. i identify with her so much.
Sweeney Hyde: like are you in love with someone who doesn''t love you back?!?! its so tragic!111
Trevor: *sigh* no. i got raped by montparnasse.

Yes, I was at the concert and heard the announcement live and it's definately true. Unfortunately, it wasn't said when he was starting though. _________________ All this over a loaf of bread? |

That's pretty awesome. I doubt I'll be able to see him unfortunately.
When is Lea leaving? It would be fantastic if she was able to play the part opposite JOJ, my two favorites in their respective roles in recent years. |

Lea is leaving on October 21st which is, if I remember correctly, when Drew's contract is up. So if JOJ is joining the cast it won't be with Lea.
That would be awesome if he did though! I always go to New York over spring break so hopefully he'll be there in March if he joins the cast.
Would Drew be going back to Grantaire or leaving the show permanently? _________________ Nous voulons que la lumière déchire le masque de la nuit

I wonder how they convinced Equity to go through with this one. _________________ The Very Angry Woman

Oh my god!!! That's so amazing for all of you over in America!!!!
But the thought of him being away from the West End... I'll have to go and see Les Mis on Broadway again!!
At least this means there's a chance I'll see him as Valjean again sooner than I thought after he leaves the London cast! (By the way, is his last performance on the 6th or the 8th of October?)
Gah!!!! This thread requires exclamation marks!!!!!!!!!!! |

John's last show is October 6th! I don't want him to go Lucky Americans....
On another note, it's rumoured that London are getting one of the Broadway Valjeans.
EDIT: This was posted on Phansonline.net though nothing is official yet so not all information will be perfect:
| Quote: | Equity exchange. It's Drew.
John's contracted for a year, which has been divided into three months in London, six months on Broadway, and his final three back in London. At least that's the way I understand it. |
So, JOJ is Broadway get JOJ for 6 months and London get Drew for 6 months. Hmmmm, it will be interesting to see Drew as JVJ...and sad to see JOJ leave for a while _________________
