It's great news isn't it? Haven't checked if it's been posted, sorry!

http://www.theage.com.au/news/arts/melbourne-cuts-miss-saigon-to-size/2006/10/16/1160850874090.html

As you can see it ran for one and a half years in Sydney so fingers crossed for a successful National tour!

just to add to that i'm a bit disapointed an American is playing the lead. I think an all - Aussie cast would be fantastic.

^ Ditto.

However, I'm glad that I didn't see it when I was little when it was on Broadway. I wouldn't have understood and then would have had bad experiences with it. Although, would it have killed my mom to take me to see the Penn. production at Buck's County Playhouse?

There ARE a lot of regional productions, though. I just need to find one near me.

During its heyday, though, even if you were old enough to appreciate the online fandom, you would've had just as hard a time finding a tour venue to go to as you do now finding a regional production -- perhaps harder. Not to mention it likely cost more to see the tour somewhere than a regional production.

Well, it's not the Australian Premiere... that was waaay back in 1995, but only in Sydney. The new production opens in Melbourne and will tour.
