One of the female parts in Spring Awakening. Which one I won't know till the beginning of april but there is no ensemble and I'm therefore certain I get one of the roles :)

Heyyy, I'm back. Been a while, but I broke my arm about a year ago as I started trying to lose weight (oops!) and that, plus directing a production last year, largely kept me on the shelf, but then I stage managed for the first time over the winter (Into The Woods) and I'm finally on the boards again, this is my first ensemble part since high school ... in Assassins opening right after Memorial Day.

Just found out I was cast as a townsperson in the ensemble for my high school's production of Footloose. Pretty disappointed, since it's my senior year, but I'll try to make it fun.

What song did you end up singing?

This show plays in Jan/Feb, and then I'm directing a June play
What will you be directing? Also, in terms of solo songs, I've always considered "Life Outside Your Apartment" to be primarily a Brian song. I know technically it's a group number, but Brian does sing the bulk of it.
I'll be directing Brighton Beach Memoirs, which I'm pretty excited about. I submitted this to the company like 4 years in a row, and they finally took me up on it. It's one of those rare plays I love but don't want to be in, because there's not really a part for me.

"Life outside" has a page of just Brian to start (essentially the first verse) but quickly goes to everyone. In that way, kind of like "It Sucks to be Me." In any case, plenty of featured singing. And one absolute gem of a one-word line:

Brian (entering): What are you guys all laughing about?
Kate: Racism
Brian: Cool!

hee.
That line is actually in "Everyone's a Little Bit Racist". it makes no sense in "Life Outside Your Apartment'' or " It Sucks To Be Me" Still a great comedic number though.

I just found out that I was cast in a play about the Great Depression called Children of Hooverville as Ruth. It's not the role I wanted, but it's still a pretty good part and I think I'll have a lot of fun with it.

They are in Australia!

The first amateur production was in Melbourne back in May this year.

Post Re: The 'Just Got Cast' Thread
Well, I came to see my last show announcement from over a year ago on the last page. But, this is kind of tradition now, so....

the reason I took so much time off is that I've been having some memory issues sprouting from a stroke a couple years ago, and another a bit before that. So much so that when a local company planned to moiunt "Man of La Mancha," even though Don Q was a dream role, I wasn't going to pursue. As a legit bass, I was considering The Innkeeper ("Knight of the Woeful Countenance") which is a smallish part, especially as my wife was auditioning.

Caught a head cold and with all the other factors, decided to punt and skip it. My wife came back with good news: she got cast as Antonia, and a couple people there who remembered me from a past show asked about me. She explained I was sick. Oh. Would he be interested in the Innkeeper? Then fill out a form for him.

Got the call a bit ago, cast sans audition. :D They did split the governor part to a non-singing auditioner. All the better!
