With Olivia gone and Maccie confined to bed rest, the next in line to hold the position of Antiquities Limited CEO is Faust... and he is notably absent. Maccie demands that Munkustrap bring Faust back to the office... and the Silver Tabby refuses... When Munkustrap returns to the Tavern, he receive one variation after another that says, "Macavity isn't there"...

BOOK ELEVEN -- CHAPTER TWELVE-- REMEMBERING

The Jellicle Ball approaches and Munkustrap is worried. The tenth anniversary of the first Jellicle Ball of his life is about to commence,and his son is questioning being in it. To top off matters, Demeter is skittish once more... Gus is given the chore to point out to Ethan the importance of even the human's version of the JB. But there is a foreboding issue... Faust is there, but his father, Macavity, is not... The Ball still goes on - both at the Winter Garden and at the Tavern on the Green's Garden Patio. All seems well until the lights flicker in the Garden and Demeter cries out, "Macavity!"

Demeter is missing and the Tribe mobilizes to try and find her. All they have is the dream where she disappears into a dark void that is in the midst of an arid wasteland. Meanwhile, another dream is being analyzed and it casts an ominous doom over the gifted members. A dark cloud filled with lightning seems to be sweeping into Manhattan, and it seems to be scooping up humans and cats. Then, details about the cloud begin to tell Munkustrap and Cassandra that this is no ordinary cloud...

Demeter has to deal with her 'maid' as well as Macavity. Meanwhile, Munkustrap is coordinating the two search parties, which are now concentrating their attention on Las Vegas. Alonzo and Plato make it back to Manhattan. Faust activates his role as CEO of AL, and then leaves with Francine to Las Vegas. The search parties find a familiar face in Vegas, Munkustrap has to deal with a problem concernig the Young Adults, and Eudora and Demeter briefly touch minds...

Things nearly collide when Demeter rips down part of her carrier, and Eudora touches her mother's mind inside Luxor's Pyramid. Although momentarily spotted, Demeter is lost as she is taken away by limousine by Macavity to nearby Mt. Charleston. Meanwhile, Munkustrap finally gets to see the away patrols because of a unique set of spells that creates a "hologram". However, McCarthy states flatly that Munkus has to deal with "Big Louis" in the Tropicana...
