Re: whats your fave movie musical
The latest adoption of Les Miserablés is my current favorite in musical movies. Its the first movie adaption that I really and thruly like and the fact that theyre singing live hugely increase the live feeling that so many musicals seems to miss! Well worth the expence of a movie theathre ticket!

My favorite movie musical is Cats followed by Phantom of the Opera and Rent. I also like Seven Brides For Seven Brothers, Singing in the Rain, and My Fair Lady.

Re: whats your fave movie musical
most of the films people are mentioning are stage miusicals that were turned into films..not movie musicals.

Re: whats your fave movie musical
Not sure what the distinction is...or are you meaning stage shows that were filmed vs. actual film musicals (ie, Cats versus West Side Story, or the 2000 Jesus Christ Superstar vs. the 1973 one)?

Re: whats your fave movie musical
I think what is called "movie musical" is only movies with songs that are not an adaptation of a musical play. For example there never was a stage musical called New York New York before the film, while Rent, POTO, Les Mis, Carousel... were all on stage before being on screen.

Jesus Christ Superstar (1973). For being recorded live and the acting performances: Les Miserables needs a big mention.

Re: whats your fave movie musical
Sound of Music will always be my favorite. I have so many but my newest is Les Misérables. I just bought it and watched it last night. I'll probably watch it again this weekend,

Re: whats your fave movie musical
The Sound of Music would have to be my all-time favorite, though West Side Story and My Fair Lady come very close. Of the more recent movie musicals, I'm partial to Les Miserables.
