Simply the best version ever recorded. IMO changing it back to the OFC version would be wonderful for DYHTPS.

Well Michel Sardou was a great singer back then...
He is still a very well known pop songer in France.

IMO, He's the best Enjolras ever, even if I really don't like him very much as a pop singer.

London 99 bootie with JOJ...and quite close to the stage. For those who either haven't seen the original original Les Mis or miss it. ;)

Talk show performance for the Czech cast, I believe.

Their Valjean needs to learn to act like he has a pulse. I know its' a talk show, but still. I mean, Eponine put in the effort...and he needs to lose that soul patch. Ick XP

Cosette is very pretty and sounds lovely and sweet, and I love the blonde curls they give her, though maybe they're a few decades too late in terms of fashion...speaking of which, I love the costuming for Javert here :D

Marius...oh my...he sounds nice, but he has got to be the oldest Marius I've ever seen XD Enjolras is very vigourous though, I like that.

Not bad over all, actually...just that Marius....O__o

Thanks for sharing this, Mistress! Always nice to watch Les Mis in other languages. I agree, Valjean looks like a dead fish :) I get the impression that he's focusing on singing with all his might, and forgets to act. Maybe doesn't feel the need to, since he's not actually on stage. The Marius/Cosette duett and the ensemble in general sounds really bad I think. Is it just me? Eponine rocks though.

Here's a few scenes in Hungarian:

Who am I at 03:10. Note that this is not the Hungarian Jean Valjean who appeared at the end of the 25th anniversary. Unfortunately there's barely any videos of him on Youtube, and none of them are tolerable in terms of A/V quality :(

Hey, that castist has a listing for little Eponine XD I know the original Hungarian production had her too-do most productions have her in the background? They also had "Monsieur.Madeleine" in the lyrics to the Confrontation :D

Hm I'm not sure where I got that 3:10 in my earlier post, totally not correct, sry. I must have mixed up the vids I was watching.

Anyway, here's the Confrontation with "M. Madeleine" (00:42, 00:47)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KcKdOjQ7 ... ure=relmfu

I guess the translators wanted to match the music first, and keep true to the original text second. It's not easy to do both at the same time :) Also, "Monsieur le Maire/Mayor" (untranslated) would sound strange in Hungarian, there's a Hungarian word for this title (polgarmester) which sounds totally different. So I guess it was a good workaround for this particular line.

This simply has to be the best version of On My Own I've seen in a long time.

I'm sure this has been posted before, but here it is again - the 1991 Paris production singing "At The End Of The Day" and "One Day More" at the Moliere Awards:
