 PASSION back in New York
http://playbill.com/news/article/158566-So-Much-Happiness-Sondheim-Lapines-Passion-Directed-by-John-Doyle-Will-Play-Off-Broadway-in-2013John Doyle will stage the Off-Broadway premiere of Stephen Sondheim's Passion. I think that's a great news. The article states that John Doyle won't use his actor-musician concept.

Re: PASSION back in New York
I'm really disappointed it's not actor/musician Doyle. Passion could work beautifully like that. Either way, I'm TOTALLY gonna try and see this.

Re: PASSION back in New York
I wish for an actor-musician staging too, but he's already doing it for Merrily We Roll Along in Cincinnati next summer. I guess he don't want to be only attached to those kind of revivals. He did a great job with Road Show without his signature concept!

Re: PASSION back in New York
I'm not sure how thrilled I am by the idea of Judy Kuhn as Fosca. She's got a wonderful voice, but I've always found her rather 'vanilla', or certainly lacking qualities I would look for in an actress playing the part.

Re: PASSION back in New York
I find Judy Kuhn a totally realistic actress very natural and in the moment i think she will be excellent.

Re: PASSION back in New York
To be fair, there were similar reservations about Donna Murphy in the original production, and she proved herself to be quite remarkable, so I have high hopes Kuhn will do the same.

Re: PASSION back in New York
I saw Judy Kuhn in the Kennedy Center production. She was easily the best Fosca of them all.
