I'm a newbie to the audition process and new to this forum as well. What a great resource! As a baritone, I'm thinking of singing "As Good as You" from Jane Eyre for an audition for a community theater production of "Secret Garden." A solid choice?
Any other song suggestions? The audition notice said they would consider "high baritones" for the role of Archie, so is there something that would show off my range better? |

I didn't know this song, so I youtube'd it, and I think it's a great audition song for Secret Garden. Not having perfect pitch, I didn't know what the range of the piece is. It would certainly be good for Neville. For Archie, you need to show at least a G (he has several). I sang "Gliding" from Ragtime for my audition, but I had a couple of tenor roles on my resume, so they knew I could sing the notes. You could look up other Mandy Patinkin roles and see if any songs from them would suit. "Anthem" from Chess might work, and I just thought that perhaps "Lost in the darkness" from Jekyll & Hyde might work too.
Best of luck with your audition. |

| Thanks Scott, and good point about showing a G. "As Good as You" only goes up to an F. I'll dig around some more. |
