What are you talking about???? Christine Ebersole would be absolutely PERFECT for Mama Rose!!!!!
Probably she would be one of the best Mama Roses, competing with, dare I say it, Lansbury.

Rose cannot be a soprano. That would be like a belting Cunegonde.

I heard a rumor Seth Rudetsky might put together a benefit with an all African-American cast, starring Lillias White as Mama Rose, and possibly Anika Nani Rose as Baby June etc. I think it'd be interesting.

Catherine Zeta Jones.
We've seen her pull off Velma flawlessly in Chicago, and we've seen that she has not only the acting and singing chops to play the part; but also the fire and drive. She'd be perfect, given a few years.

Ruthie Henshall actually would have made a great Louise when she was younger. Hell she's young enough looking she could almost play her now

AN ABSOLUTE NO TO STOCKARD!!! i love her, but after pal joey, i cant bear to see her talk sing her way through another beautiful score... especially this one.
catherine would be great! i would love to see her. and ruthie henshall has such a wide range with her acting i think she could do it flawlessly.
and christine ebersole is a goddess. she was a fabulous tessie turra, and would make an unbelievable rose. i mean look how amazing she was with little and big edie! and there is a lot of rose in both those characters, i think..
christine has my vote.

When she's older, Julia Murney could completely nail it.
I also second Christine Ebersole.
