This has probably been made before but hasn't been posted in lately and the SoM forum hasn't been too active lately but these specific forums are GREAT.
So, in Sound of Music, who did you audition for and who did you end up getting? Who was your competition?

Only way I'd ever do this show is if I'm getting well paid..and only if I was Elsa.

Post A happpyy outcome :)
Auditioned for: Liesel, Maria
Read for: Maria, Elsa, Nun
Sang for: Maria, Liesel
Part: Elsa
Why: One of my very good friends (who I really saw as Liesel) got Liesel, and I was too small in stature to play Maria, although my director said I had the voice. However, I've fallen in love with the character Elsa :)

First production
Auditioned for: Maria
Called back and read for: Maria
Cast as: random chorus nun and Baroness Elberfeld, plus understudy for all named nuns and Mother Abbess

Second production
Auditioned for: Elsa, Mother Abbess
Called back and read for: Maria, Elsa, Mother Abbess
Cast as: Sister Margaretta

So as you see, if I follow in the natural progression of promotion, my next production of SOM should land me the Mother Abbess role. Which is not nearly as good a role as Elsa, but I would totally rock the house with Climb Ev'ry Mountain, so it would be worth it.

Auditioned for Captain Von Trapp and I got the part. I really enjoyed it, the kids were so great. It was hard to find 2 boys who would do the roles but 2 brothers showed up and they both could sing and act. We had a ton of girls audition. The woman who played Maria was also great. I went to school with her and we hadn't seen each other in years so it was nice to spend time with her.
