If YOU were to write a sequel to Mamma Mia!, which songs would you include? Just for the record: I think Mamma Mia! is a silly and annoying show.

I would have to make sure that all of the songs from their brilliant Voulez-Vous album that weren't used in Mamma Mia!: "As Good as New", "Angeleyes", "The King Has Lost His Crown", "If It Wasn't for the Nights", "Lovers (Live a Little Longer)" and "Kisses of Fire".

I love Mamma Mia! on stage. It's put together more smartly than might initially be apparent, making use of the typical conventions of Depression-era musical comedies and then using the staging to point out moments where the action is as incredulous as we all know it is. A great deal of that "play" depends on direct communication from the stage to the audience in the live moment of theatre and was therefore lost in the film adaptation, which is a pity. I don't know whether a sequel would remember that that's what makes Mamma Mia! more satisfying than it otherwise might be and, if it did, repeating the same idea again probably wouldn't be as effective anyway.

I don't think a sequel to Mamma Mia is a great idea. Although I like some of Abba's songs. :)

I'd have the whole cast wiped out by a meteorite in the first scene...saves on writing and also leaves Benny and Bjorn with some dignity.

ps. I posses every ABBA song, CHESS albums and videos.

I'd make it "The Worst Of Abba" and not The best. Find a way to put in Dum Dum Diddle, The King Kong Song, etc.

Awesome! I think that would actually make it funnier and better, because Mamma Mia is a bit dumb. But it's a load of fun, and maybe we wouldn't feel so guilty enjoying it (and therefore have more FUN) if we knew that it didn't take itself seriously, know what I mean?

Dear Musicals.Net Posters,

My older idea is....old, so here's my new idea:

If I were to write a sequel to "Mamma Mia!", it'd be kind of a weird, wild story, highlighting the way that even though Sophie tried to avoid becoming her mother, she failed; she'd be coming home to Mamma....after having illegitimate twins....and experimenting with a really wild lifestyle.

The musical's main conflict would revolve around weather the father of Sophie's babies was her original boyfriend....or a drifter who seduced her shortly after she got wild and crazy with her boyfriend while they were together in Tahiti.

The comedic moments would be plentiful. Sophie's boyfriend would become drunk, and he'd flirt with the woman who sang, "Does Your Mother Know?" in the movie. Sophie's drifter one-night-stand would try to win Sophie back by pretending to be a hot surfer. Sophie's three dads would get into a fight with the drifter, but he'd somehow involve the boyfriend, who would get punched in the face. There'd be a lot of jokes about tropical drinks and bikini waxing, and, just when you thought that there was gonna be a traditionally happy ending, Sophie would announce....that she was pregnant....again, by some man or another, but that, once again, she had no idea who the father was, because she'd gotten carried away with several guys during a party at her mother's inn sometime over the Summer! Sophie's mother would say, "We're all family here, Kiddo, so you never have to worry about your three children not having a family, anyway!"

Thanks in advance for your replies.
