Wicked became the first musical to gross more than $2 million for one week of performances. I guess having a 1900 seat theatre with exorbitant ticket prices helps. I'd love to see what Stephen Schwartz's royalty cheques for the show look like.

okay i agree that i would like to see his royalty checks but the prices aren't more expensive than any other show. They beat the records because its a popular show and many people go back to see it many times. i'm sure people wouldn't go back if it was as expensive as you're hinting.

i'm sorry it sounds like i'm ranting at you

In this particular week, average ticket prices were about $144..the most expensive on Broadway that week (on average).

The ticket prices rose this week and grosses were slightly higher than this record. OMG.

Having seen Wicked twice @ $30 AUD, (Lottery), I cannot imagine forking over $162 AUD to see it.
