I read through this ENTIRE thread and have this to say:
I'm SO not for Rosie O'Donnell as Elphie and Judi Dench as Glinda. I don't think they'd fit the roles the way they ought to be. There are a few others that I just don't see happening, but I won't bother with that now.
Also, keep in mind that this most likely will be the stage performance being filmed. I don't see it being like Hairspray or Mamma Mia! at all. Thus, it keeping the ORIGINAL Broadway cast and still keep it's ORIGINAL stage splendor. That pretty much tells you who I'm wanting in the film.
IF by chance it ends up being like Hairspray and Mamma Mia!, here's my cast:
Elphaba - Idina hands down! Age should have nothing to do with it. It's quite amazing what make-up can do.
Glinda - Hmmm....ya know...it might as well be Kristen Chenoweth. Both she and Idina were the icons for their roles, anyway.
Fiyero - I can definitely see Adam Lambert doing this role. He did it before. He can most certainly do it again, whether he's famous or not.
Morrible - As I was looking through the custom casts, I'd have to agree with Meryl Streep.
Wizard - Again, looking through the many lists, I'd agree with either Christopher Walken or Steve Martin
Boq - Meh....maybe David Archuleta. Other than that...NO ideas come to mind.
Nessa - Another tough choice....hmm...I dunno. *shrugs*
Also, keep in mind about vocal ranges. Elphaba and Nessa's roles are mezzo-soprano, Glinda's is soprano, Dillamond and the Wizard's are baritone, Morrible is contralto, and Boq and Fiyero's are tenor. Due to this, casting Julie Andrews as Morrible would be a HUGE mistake. Isn't she a soprano?
I don't know about the cast that I put out in terms of vocal range, but Adam, Idina, and Kristen are the only ones I know the vocal ranges of.
One last thing...if it's the stage one, then I'm sure they'll get some good angle to show it moving. If it's the other way, then I doubt they'll even have one to show. Why bother? It's not really a major thing unless it's on-stage.
That's all I've got to say for now.
