At least he writes songs with real melody lines. See if that still exists in twenty years.

The setting is Heaven. Lewis Carroll, an angel, telephones his friend Gaston Leroux, also an angel.

GL. (to himself) No one, writes like Gaston, no one...(phone rings) Oh, there goes the phone. Hello?
LC. Gaston? It's Lewis Carroll. Look dude, I've got a problem.
GL. What's going on?
LC. Well...they're making Alice into a musical.
GL. Oh no. At least you got a good composer?
LC. Uh, no.
GL. Well, it can't be too much worse than my composer.
LC. You ever heard of a guy named Frank Wildhorn?
(Silence)
GL. You win.
LC. You know it.
GL. Join the club, we've got jackets.

Post Frank Wildhorn's WONDERLAND
The complete production team for Wonderland has been announced:

Kenneth Jones at Playbill wrote:
[The] complete production team [includes] the already-announced director Gregory Boyd, plus choreographer Marguerite Derricks (of the new Fame feature film), music supervisor and vocal and dance arranger Ron Melrose... who will also provide incidental music.... Susan Hilferty, ...Neil Patel and ...Paul Gallo will design the costumes, sets and lights, respectively, and Jon Weston will design the sound. Sven Ortel will design video and projections.

As for the plot, to expand on the one-liner given above:

Kenneth Jones wrote:
According to production notes for the show, which is inspired by Lewis Carroll's 19th-century writings, "With a chaotic Wonderland in danger of disappearing into nothingness, only a modern-day Alice can restore balance and joy. Journey with her from NYC to a strange-yet-familiar place where she must reclaim her daughter and defeat the Queen of Hearts. In this world premiere of a new musical… you'll crash through the Looking-Glass to an enchanting Wonderland filled with fantastic characters and astonishing visions. Wildhorn's score taps into numerous pop styles, and Murphy's lyrics provide both wit and wisdom as Alice learns to follow her heart."

It sounds a bit like The Neverending Story meets Labyrinth to me. But I generally like Susan Hilferty's costume designs.
