What's with the shameless Apple rip off "(iSondheim)"?

I thought this was a joke. It appears not. Strange.

I assumed that was to indicate the multimedia nature of the revue. For anyone who's interested, the original report states that the revue will be created by James Lapine:

Gordon Cox at Variety wrote:
Along with songs, the multimedia production will include new and archival commentary from Sondheim.

Yeah, the whole "i" thing sorta threw me off. I completely forgot James Lapine did Spelling Bee and Der Glockner.
I'm really excited for it. :D

I'm disappointed too. I live in Atlanta and was looking forward to it.

From our local paper
Quote:
he Alliance Theatre is canceling “iSondheim,” a highly anticipated musical revue of the works of Stephen Sondheim, and replacing it with a revival of the 2007 hit “Jacques Brel Is Alive and Well and Living in Paris.”

The decision is being blamed on the economic downturn. The show’s commercial producers said they were not able to raise the money for the project, and Alliance artistic director Susan V. Booth called the news “heartbreaking.”

“We were very much looking forward to working with (writer/director) James Lapine and Stephen Sondheim on such an exceptional theatrical project,” Booth said in a release.

The multimedia show had been billed as a high point of the Alliance’s 40th anniversary season, along with the recently ended “Jesus Christ Superstar GOSPEL.” “iSondheim” was to run April 15-May 10. “Jacques Brel,” which picked up five of last year’s Suzi Bass Awards for professional theater in Atlanta, will now fill the slot.

But quite frankly, given Sondheim's track record, recouping costs is a concern. I wonder if iALW would have received more support?

Man, I'd have liked to see that!
