Post Shrek the Musical
I just was on Broadway.com and opening on November 11, 2008 is Shrek the Musical. I don't know what to expect from this...but it should be interesting...we all knew it was coming.

I was just talking about this the other week,

we were considering what would be a fun and new pantomime to do for Christmas08 and we thought shrek would be a good choice.

it seems those Broadway Producers do have psychic powers after all then.

I really can't give a straight answer. I think it will be interesting. I love the movie, but not sure how it would work for a musical.

I loved David Lindsay-Abaire's "Fuddy Meers" so I feel a little better about this.

Yeah, apparently Lawrence O'Keefe signed on to do the music originally, but had to drop out for some reason. So instead they've got Jeanne......Tesori, is it? The chick who did Caroline, or Change

Kinda disappointed by this :( I love Lawrence O'Keefe

I can imagine the songs now:
*To the tune of Tomorrow, Annie*
"I'll be in my swamp, tomorrow.."

Lets just wait and see?! Might be good.

Tesori's a great composer. Her new songs in Thoroughly Modern Millie were great, and Caroline or Change was an amazing score.

The movies to me have always screamed musical - and, often in the movie, they frequently break out into song (the bit where the bird explodes, and the be our guest parody in the 2nd movie). So, it seems the next step is to make a musical where they can expand on these ideas.

I wonder two things - which story they're going to use (if any). So many new characters have come along. There's no Puss in Boots in the first story, so that'd be a shame not to have him. And - secondly - I wonder what the ogre will look like to make him tall and ugly - they'd have to work very hard not to make it a comical apparition.

Rhumour has it is this show is already booked for London as well - so, I will be seeing it. If done well, it could be a big hit.

You can't go wrong with David Lindsay-Abaire and Jeanine Tesori.

how can you like a show without seeing/hearing it?

Oh, then I guess that I'm a hypocrite, cause I voted like.

I think it's gonna be the next Beauty and the Beast

or Little Mermaid :?:
