I already know that the show is being workshopped; and that Harvey Fiernstien is writing the book. All I want to know is if there is any new info about the show, such as who was cast as who in the ws. I have scoured the Internet for more information but to no avail.[/list]

One of the reasons the movie wasn't that good is because it got hacked to bits in the process. They cut the crap out of Ann-Margaret's songs, cutting over half of both of her songs. There were songs and scenes that weren't filmed. They cut a dance number late in production (though this was replaced by King of New York, which is one of my favorite songs from the movie, so I don't care that much). The songs and the story are good. The script... it could use some work.

I've been in love with this movie since I was in Jr. High. I've been waiting for a Broadway version ever since. If they ever announce this, I will be first in line to buy tickets.

I certainly hope it's way better then the movie, a few new songs and a good book might bring this to become a great disney remake, but I can't get Seize the Day out of my head.

Seize The Day is one of the best songs from the movie in my opinion. I heard that Harvey Fiernstien is writing the book for the show. I don't know what to think of that, because I have never seen any of his work. So I guess I'll just have to wait and see.

On a side note, I read the first draft of Newsies a while back, and it had some good stuff in there that was omitted. One thing was it was explained why Jack takes to Less. It's because he had a little brother who was killed by being hit by a horse and carriage. If I remember correctly Sarah also had her own song about Jack in that first draft. Would be cool to see those bits put into the show.

I think the movie is phenomenal. I can understand why people who don't like musicals wouldn't like Newsies, but I can't believe anyone on this board would call it "not at all good". It's a great story of the little guy taking on the corrupt in power. Great acting. Superb score. What's wrong with it?

I can't wait for the stage version. Been waiting for years!
