Post Spamalot Auditions
So...song suggestions for Lady of the Lake auditions? I'm mezzo soprano. Can belt. I have a pretty good handle on all of her songs, but I need something not from Spamalot to audition with. I was thinking "Show Off" from Drowsy Chaperone. My main concern is singing a song everyone else is using too. What do you think?

"Show Off" is very overdone. I would suggest either "A New Life" from JEKYLL & HYDE or "When I Look At You" from SCARLET PIMPERNEL.

Those songs are good for showing off your range, but you might want to look into something more comedic in tone, as well.

I'm terrible at pinpointing specific songs because of my sadly limited knowledge (especially of comedy shows), but there is a thread on BroadwayWorld here that might help!

If you have had experience with the same casting director in the past, does s/he tend to focus on vocals or acting? Of course there's always a balance, but I have found that some directors tend to lean one way or the other.

Thanks to the both of you! I'll look into these songs suggestions. Although I do know the director, I've never auditioned for him before, so I can't speak as to whether he leans more toward acting or vocals.
