Male Audition - Sweeney (School Edition)
Alright, so I pretty much know my way around an audition for a musical. I've been in lots and lots...yada yada.
Sondheim, as we all know, is a rough composer. Even though this is a community theater production of the school edition I still want to be careful in my audition. I'm always good with anything, but I think I've got Anthony in mind this time. I've seen the movie, a profession stage version and the concert with Patti. Yet, I'm till not sure what Anthony entails. I don't really know much about any of the male characters.
I am a Tenor, specifically, my range goes from the "grave" note in Shiksa Goddess from Last 5 Years to the top most part in the Quartet of Music Man.
A silly way to describe it, but I'm not sure else how to describe my range. I play piano, but don't understand the C6, A3 etc, etc meanings. (rambling!
Anyway, I thought Any Dream Will Do will show off my range but I'm not sure it's appropriate for this audition. Then again it is community theatre. I have time, but not a ton, to learn a new song. Any suggestions, scoldings or comments? Thanks!
