cabaret audition song that's not from the show?
Ok so i'm doing cabaret, auditioning on tuesday (16 barss u know the deal) and in my theatre company our director is very open to having a female play the part of the emcee. he's considering me in particular for the role, but i can't decide whether i want to be sally or the emcee so I was thinking I would sing a song not from the show, and then let him put me wherever he sees fit at callbacks. I'm a soprano but I have a pretty big belt range and my voice is LOUD with a pretty dark color. If it helps anyone get a better idea this is me singing sandra dee reprise from grease, not my best but you can see the general idea (http:/http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H26DRd_6Ral)
I was thinking gimme gimme from thoroughly modern millie, the last 16 bars which would be from 3:15-the end of this video (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IYmjDSpGmtE
) Do you guys think that that's a good choice for this show? Its kind of impossible to pick a song that shows the personalities of the two different characters so i wasn't really bothering to consider that because my director knows my acting ability and also that's really for reading in the callback.
Thanks for anyone who takes the time to read this od long question! much appreciated!!!!
