Mamma Mia's good, but I also reccommend something from Grease.

Eh, the last show I did from that theatre was Grease. They've heard me sing stuff from that show already.

Anyone more familiar with Mamma Mia know of a good female solo song that would work for me?

Just a question about audition songs. I've been practicing a ton of Anything Goes stuff recently (trying out for the play in 2 months, going for billy), and am pretty good at it I think. My question is, would any of the songs be appropriate for an audition? The reason I ask is, while I feel I can sing them well, would a song like "its delovely" or "you're the top" (the opening billy solo, from the 60s version) be appropriate to sing? It just that those two peaces in particular have quite a bit of lines which arnt really completly sung, or rather they are sung but its kind of a mixture of sing speech (if you have the 60s addition of the soundtrack, I think the best thing illustrating what I mean is billys opening to You're the Top), and not quite in rythm, but with pauses, as if its being said to a melody. Are songs like this appropriate for an audition? I fear it doesn't show off my voice, even though I think I sound right in the context of the play (as in I sound like a good Billy).

Heck, I dont think I can explain what I mean. Well lets compare it to Empty Chairs. Empty Chairs is slow, deep emotion, and you can really show how you can sing well with a rich tone. Something like You're the Top is much more upbeat, not as much emotion and while you can show that you can sing well as a character, it doesnt really seem to show any like, vibratto or rich tones (as its almost a sing speak, at least when I sing it, and when I've heard professionals do it as well). So...to sum up, would You're the Top (and kinda with it It's Delovely as its almost similar, though less spoken) be a good audition song?

How bout something like all through the night or so easy to love?

Thanks for the help.

Don't sing a song from the show unless the director says to. Find another Cole Porter song. I'm not all that familiar with his music (I've seen Kiss Me Kate) but find something else.

No...crap I didnt make that clear at all did I. I have an audition for the show soon...which is why I know so much about it (for that I do have to sing a song from it though), but I was wondering about the songs for other auditions.

why is "Wilkommen" on the list? Auditioning with an accent is like trying out for the track team with crutches

Right, so, does anybody know a good audition song for Amneris?

I'm just curious.

I meant character-wise. Besides, the list only has songs, not songs suited for specific characters.

Well, I'm not sure. Character wise....maybe "I Enjoy Being a Girl?"
