Re: Seussical audition help (male)
Did this show a couple years ago as Horton:
and had a ball. I've considered it a couple times since, but new shiny opportunities keep popping up instead. Although, my 7-year-old daughter's now bugging me to find us a production.
The Cat or Horton the most, followed by Mr. Mayor, General Schmitz, and then the Wickershams. (Not counting Jojo)
Just from singing along with the CR, it seems like a pretty standard baritone part. Not low at all for a bass, and probably not much higher than F4.
Countwise, I imagine it's the Cat, but a lot of his are short or just bit parts in others' songs.
for me, it's Horton, easy. He's the heart and soul of the story, and he has so many fun bits.
Too many factors to tell you. Your tessitura, the selection length needed, and what part you want to target are all important factors. Personally, I did "Alone in the Universe" but YMMV.
