Post subject:  CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS! The PiTCH at the Finger Lakes MTF

The Finger Lakes Musical Theatre Festival, headquartered in Auburn, N.Y., is now accepting submissions for new musicals in development to be considered for the fifth season of The PiTCH. The PiTCH is a new works series that offers residency and retreat for creative teams and the opportunity to develop and “pitch” their new musical to an engaged and enthusiastic audience. Teams benefit from dialogue and feedback immediately following their “pitch.”

Submission deadline is Dec. 31, 2015. The PiTCH 2016 season runs from June 16 – July 30 and takes place at Theater Mack, an 80-seat cabaret-style venue in a converted carriage house behind the Cayuga Museum in downtown Auburn.

Creative teams chosen to participate are provided roundtrip travel, housing, dedicated staff, marketing, an elegant, intimate venue, and the beautiful backdrop of the Finger Lakes to immerse in their writing and development process.

“To be able to offer residency and immersion to creative teams and to see their work flourish and thrive is very fulfilling to us individually, as artists and collectively, as an arts organization. We’re proud that The PiTCH turns 5 this year – here’s to many more birthdays!” said Brett Smock, Producing Artistic Director of Finger Lakes Musical Theatre Festival.

In its first four seasons, The PiTCH has been a development platform for the creative teams of 47 new musicals. Many teams have moved on to have their works presented and produced at a wide variety of theatres and festivals around the country.

Rob Rokicki, composer and lyricist of Relativity—which appeared in the series in 2014, said of the experience, “The PiTCH was one of the single best experiences I’ve had in terms of workshopping a new work in a safe, professional environment.”
