Post Musicals for a large group of kids.
I live in a small town and we don't have many theatre opportunites for kids to get into theatre, so myself, my mother and a few other people started a theatre company last year and put off a production of Suessical.
We don't leave anyone in the company out of the production, so that's about 55 kids, more than half of whom are under 10 and no experince in theatre whatsoever. Now, we've kinda hit a brick wall in finding a musical, as it has to be child appropriate, be able to fit a large cast. We were thinking about doing Honk! but the older half of the cast dosen't seem very enthused about it.
Does anyone know of any child friendly musicals? Thanks!

Honk! is a good choice.. as is Annie, Oliver!, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dream Coat, and The Sound of Music. Maybe? Any "Jr." show could be done as well. Schoolhouse Rock is really fun. :)

Joseph... would be a great show. I saw an regional production in may that had a couple off proffesional artists in the leads (Joseph and the storyteller) coupled with a church chorus group off about a hundred people from young kids to adults. Was great fun.

Lion King might be another idea if youre not afraid of making props and animal costumes. I dont know if that show has been released yet but its definately a family friendly musical, as is Cats. (Yes, I am a cats fan, lol.)

Charm&Smiley-A Lone Dog.

My production of The King and I had about twenty young kids in it.
