Post Help me pick a show to recommend...
So, I'm thinking of suggesting a show for my community theatre to do this upcoming spring and I need some of your help.

We need a show with a pretty large cast and that has plenty of ensemble roles. Also, most of the shows we have done are very family oriented shows and they most likely would want to keep it that way. Some other people have suggested The Wizard of Oz (which seems like a very, very likely choice) and Annie Get Your Gun (although another theatre is doing this just around the same time, so that probably cancels that one out...).

Previous shows include:

Oklahoma!
Disney's Beauty and the Beast
The Music Man
Carnival
Annie
The Sound of Music
The King and I
Oliver!
The Secret Garden
Our Town
Little Women

^Hopefully that helps get you an idea of what I'm going for...

Oh, and I'd post some examples of our talent pool but it's changing this year with people leaving to college, and people being too busy, etc...

So, what do you guys think?

That was what our most recent show was going to be, but apparently the director read over the libretto and hated it.

What do you think about Guys and Dolls?

I'm not too big of a fan of "Guy's and Dolls" but it could be what your looking for (judging by your other shows). "A Wonderful Life" would be absolutely PERFECT for around Christmas... "A Little Princess" would be good since your theater (obviously, by your show list) has lots of kids.

"Bye Bye Birdie" is an excellent choice, and so is "Fiddler on the Roof". "Singin' in the Rain" has lots of roles, too. "Jane Eyre" would be very good... "Godspell" has lots of roles for "disciples".
