Post Recent shows that closed too soon you'd like to see revived
This has probably been posted somewhere before, but what do you guys think?
I'd say shows in the past 10 or so years... It doesn't have to have been a total flop, either. I'm realizing more and more how good shows can close, not just because of the economy or lack of tickets being sold, but because they want to keep shows that draws out of towners. Wicked, Chicago, Phantom, etc. "Safe shows". I know it has always been this way, it is just a shame to shows go so quickly that deserve to be longer running. I would have loved to see Next to Normal still going, very sad to see that Newsies is closing, and it's too bad Spring Awakening had to go so soon.
Thoughts? :)
Note: obviously this is what you'd ideally like to see. ;)

There are probably a lot of shows I could name, but two that immediately pop to mind are the Michael John LaChiusa "The Wild Party" and "The Light in the Piazza". Loved both those productions and would just love to see Broadway revivals (though I'm not sure how likely that is!).

"The Light in the Piazza" is a great one! And hey, I didn't say it had to be rational! I'd say Broadway is pretty dependent on its fans. They've gotten shows to push their closing dates and go from limited engagements to open runs. It's not ALL about the tourist, although it seems to be increasingly so. :problem:
