Gertrude Lawrence. I think she brought a great emotional depth to her role. I also like her voice, it's rather pleasant...and she brought a wonderful grace to her character...

It was between her and Mary Martin, but I'm honestly not a huge fan of hers...

I agree with Gertie. a brilliant actress and a true pro. Her Anna has yet to be beat..even though Donna Murphy gave Anna some wonderful depth as well.

I think I'd have to go with Gertrude Lawrence too- she brought such complexity to the role. I have bit of a soft spot for Jan Clayton though, and Joan Roberts was also wonderful.

I would have loved to see Angela Lansbury's Anna. I'm sure it was nothing less than utterly compelling. For other reasons, I would have also loved to see Elaine Stritch's take on the role.
