Does anyone miss ALW'S cat? He almost saved the world by destroying the Love Never Dies score!

The love never dies score is shaping up nicely. Why don't you give it a chance? It's not trying to surpass Phantom. Just a harmless follow up. You'll still have the original Phantom.

Actually I think ALW is indeed trying to do one better than the original POTO, because in an interview he mentioned he gets to do things like character development he wasn't able to do with POTO. It's a bit more than a 'harmless' follow up. Again I think he is trying to do better than the original POTO.

He also mentioned in the interview that he would never have imagined having two massive hits like CATS and POTO, almost like, "well I'm not going to say it's impossible for love never dies to become that big either".

Plus the massive budget (20 million or something) shows he is very serious about the project, so again it isn't some 'harmless' followup.

Oh no! He's trying! How dare he attempt to write something he thinks is entertaining!

For Webber, $20 million isn't that much. He's supposed to be worth $600 million or something.

So you're saying it's a 'harmless followup'?

Well, considering Phantom of the Opera is one of his worst shows, and that the songs are incredibly easy to learn and most ensemble members would be sick of the songs even before curtain rise, it is not so hard to surpass it, at least not from an actors point of view.

Also as an audience member, only Whistle Down the Wind, The Beautiful Game and Woman in White are worse to witness on stage.

I fail to see how a musical can cause harm. Unless something goes dreadfully wrong with the special effects.

Speaking of cast being sick of songs:

"It's driving me mad!"

"You know nothing of madness
'til you sing Masquerade
And you sing Masquerade
All the while thinking
F*** Masquera-a-a-a-a-a-de"

"Agony!"
