I'd say there is plenty to discuss. It's just people seem to prefer to dismiss it, rather than look at it or think about it.

For example, while Love Never Dies may not be the neatest show, some of it is very interesting. The reprise of Bathing Beauty is quite interesting, especially with the brooding orchestrations playing under a laboured version of what was initially an (intentionally) trashy number. The way Meg uses her stage number to to state how it has crushed her, and removes the mask that she has on stage to sing her own version, who the beauty really is. It also works with the fact that she had previously spoken of her swimming to cleanse her conscience, so the swimming theme ties in to earlier events.

I mainly agree. But how much is there to say about WDTW, TBG and TWIW? Really?

Couldn't say, as I know very little about the shows myself.

How much of the problems of Whistle Down The Wind is due to Steinman's hit or miss lyrics, rather than Webber's work would be one question.

Webber himself is a good composer, but also hit and miss a picking collaborators.

Yes, "ALW-shows" is usually used as short hand for "shows for which ALW wrote the music", which means that the criticism as often as not involves his collaborators.

No reason really. I know that people will just complain at anything even when it's something good.

Yeah, even though I don't completely agree with a few of the criticisms...

This is silly. You don't tend to have eleven pages of discussion when there's "no reason really."
