Post Le Fou Audition
Hey guys, a new member here with a small but vital question. A local theatre society is doing BATB and they have all the principals cast aside from Le Fou and Lumiere. Lumiere I'm not interested in (probably when I'm a little older though) but Le Fou I am and was just wondering if any past Le Fous had any tips. The lib is the bit with the scarf and Belle and the Song chosen is the beginning of Gaston right up to "whose team they'd prefer to be on".

Thanks in Advance!

Hi and welcome to MdN! I'm obviously no Le Fou, but I've done the scene with him many times as Belle. The best advice I can give you is to really imagine you are Le Fou, he's not the brightest which leads him to do what he does. If you're looking for something to do while you're acting, Le Fou and I did tug-o-war with the scarf as we said the lines. Good luck!

thanks for that ~Masquerade Dancer~ that's very good advice. Just out of interest, did your Le Fou do any pratfalls or anything like that? Physical Comedy I quite enjoy and was hoping to incorporate some of that into the scene. Like when she holds onto the scarf, he's still wearing it so falls flat on his backside when he turns to leave. Also when he first comes on he trips and ends up on the floor next to her!

He doesn't in that particular scene but many times in the actual show, as well as copping abuse from Gaston! But if you want to, it could work because then the director/whoever casts the show will see that you can pull of the slapstick comedy Le Fou does.

our Le Fou did this little chuckle a lot and our director loved it. The "ow" line after he is thinking can be quite funny if done right.

Most likely, they are looking for somebody to copy the movie. Annoying I know, but I would try to emulate the movie Le Fou.

Do you have acrobatics or heavy-duty pratfall training or experience? When I played Monsieur D'arque for the first time of several, the LeFou was a talented dancer/acrobat. When Belle pulled the scarf, he went with it, flipping head over heels and landing on his butt.
