Post Possibly Auditioning for Silly Girl?
I just found out that a local community theatre in my area is doing Beauty and the Beast soon (auditions in Feb). I've always wanted to be in this show, but I'm not sure who I should audition for.

I'll be 18 at the time of the audition, though I look young, average height/size, and I'm a soprano. I took 14 years of dance lessons, and I'm a better dancer and actress than singer. I was thinking of auditioning to be a Silly Girl, but I'm not sure.

Also, any song suggestions would be really helpful, since I'm always terrible at picking audition songs.

Why not Belle? Based on your description, it seems as though she might fit you like a glove.

I agree! Don't be afraid to audition for the lead! :D

I was at first thinking of Belle. She was always my favorite Disney character and I'd love to play her.

...BUT, I honestly don't think I have a good enough voice for the role. I have very little confidence when it comes to singing. I finally, about a month, saved up enough money and started taking voice lesson, so hopefully that will help me be more confident with my voice.

Also, I've never done a show at this theatre before. But the more I think about it, I might want to audition for Belle, so I can still be cast as a Silly Girl, or in the ensemble, or something.

Any song suggestions?

Edit:
Also, I've been recently listening to the OBCR and I'm fine with all of Belle's higher notes in the show, but the lower notes not so much. I think I can reach them all, but not comfortably. Especially in Home, which has always been one of my favorite songs, but I've never thought that it fit my voice well.

Hmmm I didn't even think of Babette. Do you have any suggestions for an audition song?

Well, when we auditioned, it was with a class, so we just sang Babette's part in "Human Again".
But something from Gigi could maybe be cute, it could show off your fabulous French accent.... =)
Or maybe not, I'm not the best person to ask for audition advice.
