When I posted the idea of making Beast sound like Robbie Benson's Disney version, I got a PM from a sound tech who did it. He told me that parents came to final dress, were amazed at the Beast's voice, told their friends, and that the school had the highest turnout for a show in its history.
There was a concern posted about what lowering the voice would do to the Beast's singing voice; you just bypass the effect, one button push.
Watch the movie and hear why Disney lowered Benson's voice: it makes you believe. When you have someone who understands the character, making him really big in this way causes the audience to believe he really is the Beast - suspension of disbelief is complete.
The audience is enchanted, because hearing is believing
PM me about this wonderful effect. Thanks.
