Try using a guitar pedal with multiple sounds, then running the voice line instead of the guitar through it. That's how many rock bands have achieved their unusual voice effects without vocorders, and been able to duplicate them onstage. It'll also have the added benefit of not lowering the Beast's voice. We digitally altered the Beast's voice mildly.

"I LOVE incarceration,
I could lock up a platoon,
I'll be strapping up an inmate,
Very tightly, very soon.
So wave one bachelor goodbye,
She'll be your bride- she'd rather die
Than have her daddy ossify
In my sordid saloon..."

Post Beast's voice
When I posted the idea of making Beast sound like Robbie Benson's Disney version, I got a PM from a sound tech who did it. He told me that parents came to final dress, were amazed at the Beast's voice, told their friends, and that the school had the highest turnout for a show in its history.

There was a concern posted about what lowering the voice would do to the Beast's singing voice; you just bypass the effect, one button push.

Watch the movie and hear why Disney lowered Benson's voice: it makes you believe. When you have someone who understands the character, making him really big in this way causes the audience to believe he really is the Beast - suspension of disbelief is complete.

The audience is enchanted, because hearing is believing :)

PM me about this wonderful effect. Thanks.

Kirk to Spock: Help Chekov? Is that the logical thing to do? Spock: No. But it is the human thing to do.
