Post Cut any songs?
For those of you who've done the show, what songs (if any) did you cut? The only reason I ask is because I feel all the songs are intregal to the story, but I'm sure that some directors still do it. I've heard of many productions cutting How Long Must This Go On and I suppose that's the most expendable one, but I still don't like the idea of cutting songs from this show.

We didn't cut any. I agree with you, the songs are all important and even though 'How long must this go on' doesn't seem that important, it still helps the audience understand what's happening. There are heaps of songs cut from the Jr. version though, right?

I wasn't actually in the show, but when I saw the professional touring production, they did cut No Matter What. I only let it slide because I could tell that the actor playing Maurice wouldn't have been able to sing it well.

I saw a regional production awhile ago and they cut "A Change in Me." I guess it's not that unusual since it wasn't in the original production, and several verses were missing from "No Matter What" and "Home."

Yes, the second verse of Home has been cut, I don't know why because it doesn't actually make the song much shorter.

I heard of one version where the townspeople doubled as Lumiere, Mrs. Potts, etc., so "Kill the Beast" and the major battle scene were cut out. Otherwise, I'd leave all the songs in the show.

I'm pretty sure MTI doesn't let you do this sort of thing.

Whenever I read/watch a show I always remember that the playwright put whatever is in it for a reason. However, almost all shows, in my opinion, have what I like to call a "time filler song" Beauty and the Beast is no exception to this. The song "A Change In Me", no in the OBC recording but in the licensed production, is definitly a time filler and is just...boring.

Beauty and the Beast is without a doubt one of Disney's finest classics.

In my production, we didn't cut any songs, but we did cut out the napkin dance from "Be Our Guest"

Since ours is a Jr. version, most of the songs added for the musical are originally cut from the script, plus some sections of songs in the Jr. musical itself.
