OH MY GOD.

Christine Ebersole is incredible. Her Clowns can't be anything short of stop-the-press brilliant.
I wish I could listen to it. :D

Also: does anyone think that, if she ever got around to it, Bea Arthur could have OWNED "Clowns"? I feel like it'd be just devastating.

Theres Peters. Possibly my new favorite. I can't wait for a real clip. I hope they record her and Stritch and release it as an LP or something, like with Sunset.

I've listened to Bernadette Peter's Send in the Clowns repeatedly since it was posted. I think it's my favorite.

A minute in and I'm blown away. I love it.

Did anyone hear Strich's liaisons? (It's on YouTube too). 'Poor baby' is struggling a lot. I hope she isn't being too hard on herself and gets much better!

I know people are saying "Lansbury struggled at the beginning" - she did, but not like this.

:( Ouch. She doesn't sound good. I really hope she will manage it.

Everything I've read said that Stritch acted the role wonderfully despite not quite having her lines down yet. I have hope for her.

I say we ditch Stritch, get Lansbury back and film the thing for DVD.

I watched both. They'll both get better. I LOVED what someone wrote under Elaine's video though regarding Angela:

Quote:
She will put it all together in short order and deliver something quite distinctive and moving. Unlike her predecessor in the role who hammed her way through it with her trademarked eye rolling and mugging and not a thought in her head.

SO. TRUE.

I thought Stritchie sounded fine.

Then again, I loved Lansbury's Mme. Armfeldt...

You don't like Lansbury, Jman?

Oh, don't get me wrong, I do! But I agree with everything that person says. She's a total ham who really didn't play the role with very much honesty at all. Was she hysterical? Absolutely. Was she believable? Ehh. It was a bit too charicature for my taste.
