Post A LITTLE NIGHT MUSIC Revival Financial Prospects
A couple of days ago, Variety ran an article about the financial prospects of the revival of A Little Night Music. They think things look good:

Gordon Cox wrote:
In its first two weeks, the production has grossed more than $1.5 million, a solid sum for seven-perf weeks in a smaller house like the Walter Kerr Theater. For the week ending Dec. 6, it played to auds at 96% capacity. Such sales seem to indicate strong audience interest in the title.... And it helps, of course, that the production is toplined by high-profile thesps Catherine Zeta-Jones (in her Main Stem debut) and Angela Lansbury.... [T]his version, capitalized at a relatively low $4.8 million, will have to pull off recoupment in an economic climate where auds are far more cautious in their spending.

This was before the reviews came out, of course. I wonder what effect they will have. All I know is I'd still buy a ticket in spite of anything negative that's been said. Angela Lansbury would be worth it, no matter what.

Later days
David

I'd also buy a ticket. I don't think it's very operationalised what a 'huge profit' is but I voted for this. (I guess I huge profit in comparison to other Sondheim revivals - not Wicked :P)

It's strange to think how bland this production would be without Lansbury and CZJ, though.
