Post The Tiger Lillies cover "Send in the Clowns"
Not sure if everyone's familar with The Tiger Lillies, but they are a sort of eccentric vaudevillian-esque band.

However, I came across their cover of "Send in the Clowns" and while you may have to get used to the singer's voice, it's very simple but pretty: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=enIbMW4HJug

Thoughts?

The link above has been taken down, but here's another:

I am not crazy about this version, though the simplicity is nice and there's a great deal of emotion in the voice. The second half of this cover (in particular) plays too freely with melody and lyrics, sounding at times almost like the singer had heard the song once or twice and was trying to reconstruct it from memory. That really didn't appeal to me: it isn't what Sondheim wrote and the changes neither justified themselves by revealing some new truth about the material or by adding any real depth to the singer's own journey through the song. This is not a version of "Send in the Clowns" that I would pop onto a playlist of favourites. It was interesting to hear a couple of times, but I do not think I would listen to it over and over again.

I wish I could get Bernadette's version for my iPod. Has she recorded it for anything in the past?

She performed it on a TV show in the 70s, that was featured in a brief clip in SONDHEIM ON SONDHEIM. But other than that, I don't think so. There are certainly no studio recordings of her singing the song.
