Huh. I wonder why she finally decided to try for parole? For a long time it seemed like she was content to just remain incarcerated.

Well, this should be fun. I think she's kept in touch with Charlie, it'll be interesting to see what she does with her freedom.

If I remember correctly, Sarah Jane Moore was released a few years back as well?

I'm not American and I don't know much about Fromme or Manson, but why discuss Fromme's release in terms of fun and interest? Did you mean that you hope that she has been, or will be, rehabilitated?

Yes. But we're talking about the real people, not the characters. People involved with attempted and actual murders.

As far as I remember, Lynette Fromme wasn't involved in the Manson murders and her actual assassination attempt involved waving a gun that didn't even have a bullet in the chamber at Gerald Ford, because - according to her and, sure, we can't necessarily take her word for it - she wanted to talk to him about addressing particular environmental issues and she didn't think he would listen to her without the gun: "I stood up and waved a gun for a reason.... I was so relieved not to have to shoot it, but, in truth, I came to get life. Not just my life but clean air, healthy water and respect for creatures and creation." Was it the right way to do it? No, of course not - and it was probably counterproductive to her cause. Did she handle herself well in her trial? No. Did she deserve a sentence of life imprisonment? I'm not convinced she did, but that was what the law required after the Kennedy assassination. Anyway, I think its fine to discuss Fromme's release in terms of interest. It is an incredibly interesting case. Fun - I'm not so sure about, though I guess for some there is a kind of Reality TV "what will she do now?" feel about the whole thing even though there isn't literally a show about the whole thing.

In the article that was cited above, the spokeswoman from the prison wouldn't confirm whether or not she had. It would seem that she certainly followed news about him given that she escaped prison in 1987 after hearing a rumour that he had testicular cancer. But would she not have known this for certain had she been in direct contact with him? I don't know. Has there ever been anything in the media about this since her release? Anyone know if she has tried to make contact with Manson since her release?
