FOLLIES at Encores! --> Which Script?
I found a couple of nice clips related to this concert on YouTube:
Stephen Sondheim in a post-performance discussion:
More Stephen Sondheim post-performance chatter:
I wish there was more to see. There used to be a clip of Christine Baranski singing "I'm Still Here", but it's been removed. There's also a review by John Kenrick here. It sounds like it was fantastic....
But the real question is: which book did they use for this concert? I suppose it was the most recently revised version, which reverses London's misguided changes but goes on to make even more numerous misguided changes. I know that there are people who've done side-by-side comparisons of the newest script and the original and there are changes on almost every page! It's such a pity that James Goldman's widow only allows this bastardized version of the show to be produced; it's a shadow of the brilliant piece of art that Follies should be.
