Post Into the Woods Audition song suggestions for a baritone
Hi everyone! So this spring my school will be doing a production of "Into the Woods" of which I couldn't be more excited about!! I ultimately want to be the Baker but, as I'm only a freshman, I'm pretty doubtful I'll get it. Now I'll settle for any role I'm offered but I REALLY want to be the Baker.

I consider myself a baritone, though a few people think I'm a bass. I'm not sure where I am note-wise, but I'm definitely no Tenor. Anyway, the song I was considering using is "Everybody Says Don't" from "Anyone Can Whistle" as it works with my range & fits the Baker as a character overall, in my opinion.

If anybody has any other suggestions for songs I should sing that'd be great!

Thank you! :D :D :D :D

How about "Stars" from Les Mis although it may be a bit overdone.

I hadn't really thought of that, probably because I feel that doing Les Miz for an audition is a bit overdone. Thanks though!

P.S. I'm also a "Chenoholic" :D

Tricky. From among the Sondheim catalog, lessee...

Side by Side by Side from Company. Little modernish feeling but easily singable.
It Would Have Been Wonderful from ALNM. Thematically a little off but shows fair range and the feel's all right
If they're looking for a short delection, Sweeney's part from the Johanna Quartet from Sweeney Todd might be a good fit. It'e not terribly long, though.
Everybody Says Don't from Anyone Can Whistle ... tricky quick lyrics and hard accompaniment, but if you pull it off, that's a nice plus.
