Post Jason Robert Brown's 13: the Movie Musical
Jason Robert Brown announced on his official website that he has completed a screenplay based on his musical, 13, and that it is being 'shopped to movie studios'. I imagine it will work much in the way that High School Musical worked on the big screen and aim at capturing the same target audience as that franchise and the Glee market. Any thoughts?

It wont perform very good, but I could be wrog. It's too complex (well, for a kids movie) and should stay a stage show. Hopfully no one produces it, I'm on the fence about the show in the first place.

I feel like '13' would appeal to a much more specific audience than 'Glee,' but who knows? I think the plot is really dumb, even by the standards of 'High School Musical,' so I hope if this comes to fruition that some serious work is done in that department. I seem to remember someone saying the music for JRB's shows is great, while the books are typically lacking. That could not be more true for '13.'

I've preached that here for ages. 13 and The Last 5 Years may be the best two examples of this. I think JRB could be incredibly successful he's colaborate with a writer that could really deliver a solid book.

I think 13 would make a great movie, as long as they cast people who can actually sing, versus big names that they can auto-tune!

I absolutely ADORE 13! It's the best musical by far!!! I played Charlotte in the prodcution of it my drama group did and everyone involved loved it to death! I would definately do it again!!! :D Jason Robert Brown did an amazing job at writing 13 because it connects with every single person in some way! Whether you're actually a teenager going through the problems or an adult remembering the problems! It is so open minded and layed back and anyone can relate to it! BUT that is why critics didn't like it! They didn't like the fact that the context of the show was a bit ranchy and grown up for teenagers to actually perform and watch when in reality, it is 100% accurate with todays generation! I'm 15 and everything that was said in the show was what I had heard when I was about 11! You cant get away from the fact that the "kids" of this generation are actually a lot more grown up than kids used to be! Ok! I give in it is a bit too old for 8 years olds but not for 13 year olds! It's realistic which is what people love! This would make an amazing movie and I would definately go see it!!! Jason Robert Brown shouldn't change any of it because it is perfect the way it is!!! :D x

Saw this on Broadway, and yes the music is great, but I loved the whole show, story and all. Is a great piece of theatre: great songs, food drama moments and comedy (Terminal Illness is so funny! and then If That's What It Is is another great moment).
