Update on "1972" the Musical. The show had its stage debut on January 29-31 in Ames, Iowa and was staged as a fundraiser for the local women's shelter (the show has several feminist themes). There were about 150 people total in the audience over the three performances, and $1400 was raised in donations!
A video of the show was made and is available on youtube, either scene by scene or complete. Links are below. The original cast recording of each song is also on youtube.
I was very pleased that a performance of the show was staged. We had no budget and so to mount the production at all was a minor miracle. There are 5 cast members and we had an orchestra of 4. This is a fun/inspiring high-energy show that could be used royalty-free by other production companies as a fundraiser for a good cause. I would like feedback on the writing (script, music, lyrics) to improve the show. Please let me know what you think!
"1972" (What is the World Coming To?) is the first part of a trilogy of musicals which I am now completing, including "1983" (Life Goes On), and "1994" (Love Never Fails). Much of the music in rough composer recordings is available for "1983" on youtube. What happens in 1983 and in 1994? Write me if you really want to know!
