Dear Musicals.Net Posters,

I've been watching the 1988 version of "Carrie", and a high school production, too, and in the high school production, a projection screen was used during the entire production; during the prom scene, red streamers were dropped onto Carrie's head, and those, coupled with a red light and the wave of blood on the screen, were more effective than either real "blood" OR the light alone, but....that sight gave me a NEW idea....

What if a catwalk were used during the ENTIRE show, so that Chris could show her symbolic status by singing on top of it (Kind of like Sharpay Evans during "High School Musical"), and what if, during the prom scene, Chris and Billy stood on top of the catwalk, dropping a sheer, bright red-hued cloth on top of Carrie's head, so that, when the spotlight turned red, Carrie was sort of covered, almost like a Bride of Frankenstein figure?

That way, stage blood wouldn't have to be used, and the unrealistic effect of the simple light wouldn't spoil the climactic scene from the show, and, besides, how spooky cool would it look for Carrie to gesture from beneath a sheer, red piece of fabric while she was punishing her classmates?

What do you think, and has this technique been used before?

Thanks in advance for your replies.

That is actually extremely creative and I'd love to see a director try that out! You don't need everything to be 100% realistic like what some directors push for; it's refreshing to see a nice symbol thrown in here and there.
